Refresh Festival 2007
Rich cultural life of Kotor seems like there is never enough events and festivals because of the town’s spirit that generates enough energy for everyday fun especially culminating during summer tourist season. Maximus gave Kotor somewhat new dimension making it ever more popular destination for lovers of nightlife matching some of the best world’s nightclubs.
Newly founded, Refresh festival took place from 9th to 12th of August 2007 in probably the best object of its kind in this part of the Europe – The Discotheque Maximus. During four unforgettable Mediterranean nights, Maximus and Refresh Festival were marked by actual world-class DJ stars with their own unique performances. With additional efforts in staging the festival with carefully developed concept aimed at reaching the rarely sophisticated level of night clubbing, Refresh hosted the very cream of the electronic dance scene.
There she was, Charlotte Lottie Horne, the first lady of world’s DJ community, enchanting the place with her refined performance and charm that had everyone delighted. German DJ Ian Pooley pointed with such an ease that he is, by no coincidence, two-decade lasting top selling producer. Only longer lasting than him is Robert J. Owens, the most famous mail house vocal of all times and in the same time DJ whose vast experience reaches the glorious day of early house scene. Uros Umek was well known and demand for his unique techno performance almost surpassed the capacities of Maximus.
Besides the most renowned, list of performers had Jonty Skrufff, London’s electro star, as well as Ryan Shaw, the young Briton who grabs his success with giant leaps forward. We must not forget selection of regional DJs such were Iva Starkova, Dee Face, Vladimir Acic, Big R, Sagor Mash, N.M.E, Alen Bajd, Flo, as well as two excellent Montenegrin DJ hosts – A.P. and Cule. Especially for the Refresh Festival, performances from the Main Room could be both heard and seen inside the Lounge Bar, while Pub Mediteraneo was reserved for Hip Hop Stage with masters of the black sound such are Bad Brothers DJs – Ike&Prema, Playa, Munja and rezident DJ Dejan Matic.
Refresh Festival in its first edition pushed certain limits and showed that it will develop itself in the years to come making the Montenegrin coast and City of Kotor even more attractive tourist destination for lovers of supreme nightlife. Moreover, Maximus will establish itself to a elite range of summer clubs similarly to those in Ibiza, Aiya Napa, French Riviera or Monte Carlo.
